After only two weeks, the contest has already received over 200 high-quality submissions to the artist development contest.
Cologne, 19th of November 2007. Two weeks after the launch of "Hobnox Evolution", over 200 projects have already been uploaded in the categories Music, Film and Urban Culture. The quantity, quality and feedback of the participants indicate a successful early development stage for Hobnox, paving the way for the portals' launch at the end of February 2008.
Most entries have been submitted in the music category. Current pole position has the band "GeradeSo!" Three guys from Detmold inspired with homemade music and German lyrics. The highest resonance in the film category has been received by the movie "Projektion" (Projection), a short movie, which intrigues with its surprising plotline. In the Urban Culture category, a video collage has been gaining most recognition, not merely because of the excellent skateboard tricks, but because of its atmospheric pictures.
Since the start two weeks ago, Jury member Tyron Ricketts appears content with the quality of the submissions: "I'm positively surprised about the numerous submissions, some show great talent. Still, I believe there is so much more possible. I am and will remain excited about the coming entries!"
The "Evolution" ends with the launch of the Hobnox-portal at the end of February 2008. Participants can submit their work until the 31st of January 2008, when the community will rate their projects. Yousef Hammoudah, responsible for the Hobnox-channel content expresses his satisfaction about the users' participation: "We are most thrilled by the response of the participants. Obviously the high-value artist development package is a benefitting factor, but many artists have stated that the greatest motivator for signing up to the "Evolution" contest is the goal of the Evolution itself: they are looking for a place where they can self-determine their own creative productions. This is the confirmation of our vision and now we are sure, that the participants will truly become the first generation of Hobnox-artists."
About the "Hobnox Evolution"
"Hobnox Evolution" invites artists to upload their material onto hobnox.com to present their projects. Artists can exchange ideas with like-minded people, get feedback on their work and be part of the "Hobnox Evolution" contest. Until 8th of February 2008, Hobnox-users will vote the three runners-up in each category: Music, Film and Urban Culture. The nine winners of the preliminary round will be invited to come to Berlin for the "Hobnox Evolution" festival, which will take place between the 27th and 29th of February 2008.
During the festival, the nine finalists will have to represent their work personally to our expert jury by playing a live concert (Music), exhibit their art (Urban Culture) and show their entries for the film contest at the cinema (Film). Among the jury members are the Swedish musician Moneybrother (Sony Music), De:Bug boss Sascha Kösch alias Bleed, Linus Volkmann (Intro Magazine), Davide Bortot, editor in chief of Juice Magazine, Jaybo Monk and Cathy Boom of Style & The Family Tunes and Tyron Ricketts (actor).
In each contest category, we are offering a personally tailored Artist-Development Package worth €25.000. The set up of this package will be defined by the winners in collaboration with a team of experts. The support package could enable the artists to produce their first film, album or music video. It could help with the realization of an exhibition or it could provide the necessary market-ing tools, to spread their name. It could also help the artists to buy equipment he or she may require to realize future projects. Whatever needs the artists may have, the Artist-Support Package will make it possible.
