Wer schonmal ein Foto langzeit-belichtet hat, der kennt das Grundprinzip von lightwriting.
Schon Picasso hatte diese Disziplin für seine Kunst entdeckt. Eine Foto- und Animations-Technik, die sich in den vergangen Jahren extrem weiterentwickelt hat.
Darklight ist das erste internationale lightwriting Festival, das sich ausschliesslich mit diesem Thema befasst.
Ziel des Festivals ist es, internationale KünstlerInnen zu einem einwöchigen Festival nach Berlin einzuladen und Workshops, Jam-Sessions und eine Ausstellung der hierbei entstandenen Arbeiten für die Öffentlichkeit zu organisieren.
Mit dem Darklight Festival wollen wir den internationalen Austausch und die Zusammenarbeit von Experten - die sich bisher nur über Websites kennen - realisieren und fördern.
Das einwöchige Festival beinhaltet öffentliche Workshops, gemeinsame Jam-Sessions und endet mit einer Ausstellung, die anschleissend drei Wochen für die Öffentlichkeit geöffnet bleibt.
Wir haben die Zusage von zwei Locations für Produktion und Ausstellung, die Zusage von Teilnehmern aus Frankreich, Japan, Niederlande, Indien, Australien, England und Deutschland und bis auf die notwendigen Mittel organisieren wir den Hokuspokus aus Passion und bis dato rein ehrenamtlich.
Das Fördergeld des Evolution2 Contests wollen wir in die Reisekosten für Teilnehmer, Kosten für die Workshops, die Ausstellungs-Organisation und -Produktion, sowie Equipment-Miete investieren.
Du kannst beim Festival durch Anmeldung selbst aktiv an Workshops und Specials teilnehmen und Dir die Ergebnisse der während des Festivals entstandenen Arbeiten auch später in der Darklight Ausstellung anschauen.
In der Ausstellung werden neben Fotografien auch Videoinstallationen und interaktive Kunst eine Schlüsselrolle spielen.
Das Festival ist im Herbst 2009 geplant und wäre eine tolle Bereicherung des kulturellen Angebots für Berlin und kann dabei auch Pionierarbeit auf professionellem Kunst-Niveau fördern.

Whoever checked longtime exposure on cameras already knows the basics of lightwriting.
Picasso already worked out this technique in his way.
It´s a simple but efficient photo- and animation-technique, which developed extremly within the passed decade.
Darklight is the first international lightwriting festival, paying tribute to this virtual graffiti and urban space art .
It´s our goal to ivite the most outstanding artists of this genre to Berlin for one week to hold workshops, jam-sessions and to organize an exhibition for the public.
With the Darklight Festival we want to achieve new collaborations of experts, who know eachother only from the web, and give a support to this movement.
The vernissage of the exhibition is the final highlight of the festival and will open an exhibition which dures another three weeks open to the public.
We have the offical OK of two locations and the feedback of participants from France, Japan, Netherlands, Russia, India, Australia, England and Germany and so far this festival is planned and organized complimentary by Tofa from Berlin.
We would like to use the award of the evolution2 contests for paying travelcosts, workshopmaterials, exhibition-organization and -realisation and equipment-rent.
You can take part in the festival on workshops, specials and/or visit the exhibition Darklight a bit later to see the festivals result. Within the exhibition you´ll find photoseries, videoinstallations and interactive art. The festival will take place in autumn 2009 and would be a perfect extension to Berlins cultural programm,
